Leading complex infrastructure projects, offshore and onshore.

Lumos Grid supports developers of innovative energy and water projects whose assets run from offshore sites to the onshore grid. Project management, permitting, and technical coordination for projects with environmental and climate benefits.

Services

From the first route to the permit application.

A project that links offshore assets to the onshore grid involves many parties: authorities, communities, engineering firms, suppliers, and grid operators. Lumos Grid handles the coordination that keeps the project moving and avoids costly rework.

Delivery

Project management and technical coordination

A project manager embedded in your team to hold the schedule, manage engineering firms, and align technical work packages.

  • Project plan, schedule, and risk register
  • Management of engineering firms and contractors
  • Coordination of work packages: marine, civil, grid connection
  • Drafting and review of tenders (RFP, RFI)
Permits

Permitting: connecting regulatory and technical work

Lumos Grid connects permitting with the technical and economic sides of the project. We present technical information to authorities, justify project choices, and move the regulatory process forward.

  • Regulatory roadmap and review timeline
  • Technical notes for authorities
  • Justification of choices: site, route, alternatives studied
Studies

Oversight of engineering studies

Studies commissioned at the right time, with the right scope, and results checked before they drive a decision. Lumos Grid oversees engineering firms, with a focus on grid connection and high-voltage cables.

  • Needs definition and study scopes of work
  • Scoping, tendering, and management of engineering firms
  • Critical review of deliverables and assumptions
  • Technical trade-offs: route, landfall, grid connection

Approach

Reduce risk early, where it costs the least.

A poor route choice, a regulatory requirement discovered late, or a poorly managed interface can cost months of delay. Our job is to address these issues upfront.

Remove uncertainty

Identify technical, regulatory, and environmental risks early, along with the data needed to resolve them.

Be ambitious and realistic

Develop innovative projects on solid assumptions, without oversizing or underestimating site constraints.

Stay on schedule

Align studies with permit review timelines and funding milestones.

Align stakeholders

Transparent dialogue with authorities, communities, and industrial partners.

About

A complete view of complex projects.

Lumos Grid is a project management and technical advisory firm based in Montréal. It specializes in complex, innovative infrastructure projects that combine offshore and onshore assets in the energy and water sectors.

Offshore sites, subsea cables, landfalls, and grid connections: these projects bring together technical, environmental, regulatory, and social issues. Lumos Grid addresses them as a whole, drawing on experience from major energy projects in North America and Europe.

We work alongside innovative startups and developers, joining their teams to move projects from concept to permit.
